Belarus student visa requirements are not changed for 2026 and remain the same for foreign students.

What is a visa, actually?

A visa is an authorization to enter any other country if required. It is actually permission, as we cannot enter anyone’s home without the permission of the owner. There are several types of visas for all countries and on different grounds, for example, study visas, tourist visas, business visas, etc. So it’s all about which category you fall into for any specific country to enter legally. A study visa is issued to those who intend to study in any other country, and there are certain rules that every applicant has to follow to obtain a visa. There are supportive documents that international students must present to secure their student visa for higher education in any other country. A tourist visa is issued to all who just want to tour any other country for some days or weeks, and there are also grounds on which these tourist visas are issued. A business visa is issued to those who want to set up or invest in another country to expand their business or business ties. There are also medical visas that are issued for the treatment of a patient in certain circumstances. So visas are of many types.

A Belarusian student visa is issued under two conditions: before arrival or on arrival

Thousands of international students come to study in Belarus from all over the world every year, and they all require a student visa to enter Belarus, regardless of their nationality. A student visa is issued on some official grounds. First of all, you should have an official study invitation letter approved by the migration department in Belarus. This is the first step. Once you have the official study invitation, you may check the visa requirements for international students. Most foreign students have the opportunity to obtain their Belarusian student visa on arrival, and for this on-arrival visa, international students should have with them an official study invitation and an OK-TO-BOARD for departure from the country’s airport. The visa fee is paid at Minsk International Airport, and the visa is stamped in their passport.

The other Belarusian student visa condition is a visa before arrival. This visa is only issued to the nationals of those countries that have the Belarus embassy, and there are a few countries.

BELARUS STUDENT VISA RULES FOR COUNTRIES FROM WHERE A HUGE NUMBER OF FOREIGN STUDENTS COME TO STUDY IN BELARUS

1: NIGERIA

International Nigerian students come to study in Belarus in huge numbers.

All Nigerian international students who are found eligible and have an official study invitation from the migration department may process their Belarus study visa to enter Belarus for their higher education.

Before 2012, Nigerian international students had been arriving in Belarus with an official study invitation and an OK-TO-BOARD for departure from Lagos or Abuja International Airport, and the visa was to be issued at Minsk International Airport, but in 2012, the Belarusian embassy was opened in Nigeria.

Now all Nigerian international students who have an official study invitation from the migration department must obtain their Belarusian student visa before arrival at the embassy of Belarus in Abuja.

Nigerian international students may also obtain their student visas on arrival at Minsk International Airport, provided they are approved by the migration department.

2: GHANA

Every year, many Ghanaian international students come to study in Belarus for different courses.

Belarus has not opened its embassy in Ghana till now, so all Ghanaian international students obtain their Belarus student visas upon arrival at Minsk International Airport, provided they have with them an official study invitation from the migration department and an OK-TO-BOARD letter for departure from Kotoka International Airport in the city of Accra.

International Ghanaian students pay a visa fee at the immigration counter at Minsk International Airport, and they are issued a Belarus student visa in their Ghanaian international travel passport.

3: CAMEROON

Cameroonian international students love to study in Belarus at different universities in major cities in Belarus.

There is no Belarusian embassy in Cameroon, so Cameroon nationals are also issued a Belarus student visa on arrival at Minsk International Airport, and they pay the Belarus study visa fee at the immigration counter on arrival. However, these Cameroonian international students should have with them an official study invitation and an OK-TO-BOARD for departure from Douala or Yaoundé International Airport.

4: NAMIBIA

Namibia is also an African country from which, every year, many Namibian international students come to study at universities in Belarus, and for this purpose, as with all other foreign students, Namibian international students also require a Belarusian student visa to enter Belarus for their higher education.

Namibian nationals are also issued a Belarus student visa on arrival at Minsk International Airport, and they should also have with them before departure an official study invitation from the migration department and an OK TO BOARD letter for departure from Windhoek International Airport.

5: CONGO

International Congolese students also come to Belarus in good numbers every year for their higher education, and they also require Belarus student visas to enter Belarus for their higher education at different universities in Belarus.

Congolese international students are also issued a Belarus study visa on arrival; they should have with them an official study invitation from the migration department and an OK-TO-BOARD for departure from N’Djili International Airport in Kinshasa.

6: RWANDA

International students from Rwanda also love to study in Belarus for different courses, and they come there every year in good numbers.

There is no Belarusian embassy in Rwanda, so these international students from Rwanda are issued a Belarusian student visa on arrival at Minsk International Airport after presenting their official study invitation issued by the migration department and an OK TO BOARD letter for departure from Gregoire Kayibanda International Airport in the city of Kigali.

7: ZAMBIA

Zambian international students always come in good numbers for their higher education at universities in Belarus, and these Zambian international students are issued a Belarusian student visa on arrival at Minsk International Airport once they have an official study invitation from the migration department and an OK-TO-BOARD letter for departure from Lusaka International Airport.

8: EGYPT

Indian international students need an official study invitation approved by the migration department to lodge their Belarusian student visa application at the Embassy of Belarus in India.

12: PAKISTAN

Pakistani nationals come to study in Belarus in good numbers every year and mostly come to study general medicine programs, and many come for language studies too.

13: TURKEY

Turkish international students always come in huge numbers to study at different universities in Belarus.

There is an Embassy of Belarus in Turkey, so all Turkish international students who have an official study invitation with them can apply for their Belarusian study visa at the Embassy of Belarus in Turkey.

They present at the embassy of Belarus supportive documents with an official admission letter issued by the migration department, and the embassy issues the Belarusian study visa, which every Turkish national is required to obtain before arrival.

14: SUDAN

18: SWAZILAND

These foreign students are issued a Belarus student visa by the Belarus Embassy in the United Arab Emirates after an admission letter is issued by the migration department.

A few nationals of the following countries must obtain visas before arrival, as their country has the Belarus embassy:
